Your tax-deductible gift supports the upcoming Momenta Festival and recording projects!Back in 2004 when I launched Momenta's first website, I decided to save some money by paying for website hosting for 10 years. A friend of mine said, "What? Are you crazy? Nobody keeps the same project going for 10 years!" Well.... Next season marks the 20th Anniversary of the Momenta Quartet! It's hard to believe, but it's true. We want to go LARGE with our ninth annual Momenta Festival next Fall. We are still working on the plans for that one - stay tuned (or detuned) for updates! Meanwhile, one of the most important things to me these days is getting more of Momenta's unique personal repertoire on record. We have been spending a lot of time in the studio and have multiple irons in the fire, including the complete Carrillo quartets for Naxos, our long-awaited American album for New World Records, our recent recording of Robert Morris' monumental Carnatic String Quartet (which many of you heard at our 8th Momenta Festival in the Fall.) We are so honored to have grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, The Amphion Foundation, the Aaron Copland Fund for Music and the Alice M. Ditson Fund to help us in all of these endeavors but we also rely on the support of our friends like you to help us keep the Momenta Festival concerts free and accessible to all and to support our major recording projects. Our goal is to raise $6000 by the time the clock strikes midnight here in New York City on December 31. Would you please consider a year-end gift to the Momenta Quartet through our fiscal conduit, The Field, in your holiday giving plans? Speaking of recordings, we are going to Oktaven Audio this Friday and Sunday to lay down the tracks for Julián Carrillo's String Quartet no. 2 and working hard towards a final edit of our first Carrillo record which will feature his String Quartets number 5, 6 and 13. A week later, we have one last FREE concert of the season on my local Bronx community concert series sponsored by the Bronx Council on the Arts: Boogie Down Beethoven/A Concourse Counterpoint Christmas Saturday, December 16, 3pm in the Bronx Historic District The Momenta Quartet followed by Hilliard Greene and The Jazz Expressions This concert is in a private venue, so please RSVP to [email protected] and I will send you the address and other details. Best wishes for the holiday season! And please help support Momenta's many ambitious projects with a tax-deductible gift through The Field by midnight on December 31. -Stephanie
