Thank you so much to all of you who contributed to the Momenta Quartet’s year-end fundraising campaign thus far! We're still just hovering over the halfway point towards our $6000 goal.
Maybe we're a bit too ambitious. Of course we are! That goes without saying. In fact, we just co-authored an article for the "First Person" column in Strings Magazine (January/February 2023 edition) about all that goes into the planning and preparation for our annual Momenta Festival, and the rigorously collective process behind our decisions and all the things we do.

We wrote that article together - just as each member of Momenta also shares their perspective in each of these year-end fundraising emails.

Here's what Michael has to say:

Momenta has had a very busy year, thanks in part to our generous annual donors! We are thankful that our Alvin Singleton album has been received so positively since its release last Spring, and that we were able to bring back the live Momenta Festival in October in partnership with Music for Food. In addition to performing and recording, one of the most meaningful parts of every season is our work with student composers and performers.

In 2022 Momenta continued our ongoing residency at Binghamton University with visits in March and December. We are always excited to see what the composition department has cooked up for us, and this year was even more exciting than usual. In addition to premiering seven pieces we also performed with the Binghamton University treble chorus, and presented a masterclass, improvisation workshop, and composition seminar. We also had the chance to work with student composers at Rutgers University and Brooklyn College for the first time in 2022, and look forward to returning to the Eastman School of Music and Illinois State University's Red Note New Music Festival in 2023.

Your donation to Momenta Quartet helps us continue bringing adventurous programming to NYC and beyond, as well as supporting the next generation of composers. Please help us continue this into the future!
