Momenta Festival VIII: September 30, October 1, October 4, and October 5, 7:00pm
Four nights of adventurous string quartet music, each one curated by a different member of the Momenta Quartet
September 30, 7pm: “Looking Back”
This program features works spanning three different centuries in which each composer has been inspired by musical traditions of the past. Curated by cellist Michael Haas with guest pianist Amy Yang. Works by Han Lash, Matthew Greenbaum, Franz Joseph Haydn, and Robert Schumann. In partnership with Music for Food, all donations at this concert will benefit Broadway Community, fighting food insecurity in upper Manhattan.

October 1, 7pm: “Earth and Ether”
Curated by Emilie-Anne Gendron, this program assembles four works that look inward and upward, striving to articulate the joy and pain of the human experience while also contemplating what lies beyond. Works by Jeffrey Mumford, Julian Anderson, Julián Carrillo, and a world premiere for solo violin by Elizabeth Brown. In partnership with Music for Food, all donations at this concert will benefit Broadway Community, fighting food insecurity in upper Manhattan.

Curated by Stephanie Griffin, this program features Julián Carrillo's second string quartet and Robert Morris's recent Carnatic String Quartet, each exploring modal writing.

November 18, 3pm: Concourse Counterpoint
Concourse Counterpoint presents the Momenta Quartet, performing unique string quartet repertoire spanning multiple centuries. This project is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the Bronx Council on the Arts.

Concourse Counterpoint presents a holiday lobby concert with a mixed program of classical music and jazz. Momenta performs Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 18 No. 6 in honor of his birthday, followed by bassist Hilliard Greene and the Jazz Expressions.
