Happy Spring time!
As crocuses poke through the frozen earth, Momenta is hard at work learning a substantial new work by the Greek composer Ioannis Angelakis. His Institution Imaginaire is a high octane reimagining of a Mozart piano concerto, which we will precede with the actual concerto in a string quartet reduction with concert pianist Nefeli Mousoura, who is traveling in from Greece especially for the occasion. An added bonus – this is a FREE CONCERT!

W.A Mozart: Piano Concerto No.12 in A major KV414 (25 min)
Ioannis Angelakis: Institution Imaginaire, for string quartet (45 min)
The Waverly Project brings together the Momenta Quartet and acclaimed Greek pianist Nefeli Mousoura for a concert that puts in dialogue an intrepid new work of Ioannis Angelakis with Classical-era titan Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Momenta Quartet will give the world premiere of Angelakis’ brand-new string quartet, «Institution Imaginaire»–which, in a boldly deconstructive gesture, draws on Mozart’s Piano Concerto KV.414 as its inspiration. To kick off the evening, Mozart’s actual piano concerto will be performed by Nefeli Mousoura and the Momenta Quartet in its version for piano and string quartet. Don’t miss this exploratory and transformative evening!
