The Momenta Festival III: End of Year Fundraising Campaign

It’s been a whirlwind season so far, and the Momenta Quartet thanks all of you for being a part of it! After attending the opening night of our recent Momenta Festival II, music writer George Loomis praised us for our “enterprising spirit,” and we are at it again – actively scheming towards the Momenta Festival III in October 2017.

The Momenta Festival is the most ambitious project we have ever taken on as a quartet. With four concerts, each one curated by a different member of Momenta, it’s a unique opportunity to showcase our individual visions and talents as soloists, with esteemed guest artists and within the fabric of the quartet.

One thing we have learned: it takes a village to produce a festival. We managed to pull the first one off on our own – with some leftover money from the fundraising campaign for our debut CD, but mainly by the skin of our teeth! Inspired by the success of the first festival, we asked for your help, and we are so grateful to all of you who helped us raise over $8000 towards Momenta Festival II last year.

As the end of this fiscal year approaches, we ask you all again to consider a tax-deductible donation to Momenta Festival III as part of your holiday giving plans.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 by the time the clock strikes midnight on December 31, 2016. Your contribution will be fully tax deductible through our fiscal conduit, The Field – can you think of a better time to give more money to artists and less to the IRS? – and will go towards renting The Tenri Cultural Institute for four nights, artist fees, production personnel, video/audio documentation, our beautiful program book, the fabulous publicity team at dotdotdotmusic – and adding to the jovial environment – custom brews by Sam Burlingame of BrewHeister.

And why is the Momenta Festival III an excellent cause? We can think of many reasons, but most importantly – our annual festival is our most powerful expression of the Momenta Quartet’s mission, which embodies what we all stand for as New Yorkers: UNITY IN DIVERSITY. Momenta’s advocacy of composers from all cultures and aesthetic backgrounds is a powerful reflection of this great city, which provides a home for all kinds of artists and people from all over the world. (Like Momenta’s founding violist, 37% of New Yorkers are foreign-born, as of the last census.) Putting your money towards Momenta is a way to express your belief in everyone’s rights to personal expression and your commitment to promoting peace and understanding within our little slice of the universe. That’s all we can do, and we will keep on doing it, with your help!
