Joanne Lin, cello
As a passionate explorer of chamber music, Joanne Lin is a member of the mixed chamber group Transfiguration Ensemble and the New Century Chamber Orchestra, a conductorless group based in the San Francisco Bay Area. An advocate of contemporary music, she was a founding member of Argento Chamber Ensemble and has appeared as a guest artist in various new music series, including International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) concerts, the Look and Listen Festival and the American Festival of Microtonal Music. She has worked closely with many contemporary composers, including Tristan Murail and Mario Davidovsky, and is a regular cellist for the Long Island Composers Alliance. Ms. Lin received her Master’s degree from The Juilliard School in May 2000 as a student of Fred Sherry. Her other principal teachers include Irene Sharp and Peter Stumpf. She has a BA in Environmental Systems Modeling from Swarthmore College. Originally from San Francisco, she has been living in New York since 1998.
